Website Promotion With Link Bidding Directories

As webmasters we try everything to promote our sites. The methods used are countless. Some provide great results and some seem to be wasted time and effort. Advertisements on the internet can be very expensive, which can place a burden on the web owner. Another issue that webmasters have to deal with is the many scams and schemes that seem to be so prevalent across the internet.

Many of those scams and schemes are wolves in lambs clothing. They make promises of increased traffic and improved rankings for our websites. And as webmasters we all strive for those things for our sites so it is not surprising that many webmasters have fallen for false promises.

Web promotion does not have to be complex. As a matter of fact, one of the easiest and least expensive methods provides real results. I'm referring to link bidding directories. Not only can a webmaster place a bid for only one dollar but the process can be completed in a matter of minutes from start to finish.

Link bidding directories can provide many advantages over other forms of advertising. As mentioned, it's fast and easy. It's inexpensive and it can provide amazing results? often in a short amount of time. By listing a site with a link bidding directory that has a good page rank the webmaster will enjoy quality back links. That can lead to increased page rank for the site listed. The increased page rank can lead to increased traffic flow.

Another wonderful advantage is the fact that the webmaster is in control of the bidding process. If he/she desires a particular spot it is easy to see what the cost will be and to bid for it. Of course, the higher the bid the better position for the listing. Top bids will enjoy the number one position and will usually enjoy a listing on the homepage of the link bidding directory. Some link bidding directories list the top bidding sites on every page.

Before you decide which link bidding directory to list your site with do some exploration into the various site's page ranks. Find out how Google ranks them and choose one of quality. That quality will reflect on the site you list.

Although link bidding directories are not the only type of advertisement that works for web promotion, it may be one of the best. The advantages are many but the feature I like best is the fact that the webmaster actually has control (through bidding) over where his/her site is listed. Few forms of advertisement or promotion can compare with that.

YourWebDex is a web directory based on a bidding system. All links is separated by categories. With a starting bid of $1, you are guaranteed to have a spot in this directory.

Google's latest algorithm update, Jagger dropped site rankings dramatically of those that relied heavily on reciprocal linking schemes and especially those that gained most of their inbound links from limited networks of sites controlled by single companies. Some firms routinely sold those links and marketing firms had provided links from their own network of sites to clients.

This type of artificial link inflation has clearly been downgraded by Google in the Jagger update and many sites participating in extensive purchased links as well as marketing network links have been dropped dramatically in rankings of competitive phrases they previously did very well for.

Some of my own clients that had extensive reciprocal linking schemes in place have dropped in rank quite seriously. They naturally come running to me to ask why. When I point to their reciprocal links directory, full of non-relevant reciprocal linking partners, they can barely believe me that it would drop their rank so severely. When I remind them that I had, very early in our relationship, suggested that they drop those link directories from their site, it is difficult NOT to smile while saying "I told you so" to them.

One client had recently agreed to a substantial writing project to add extensive copy and additional textual material on their industry and products to their site. They were ranking on page three of results at Google previous to the Jagger update and I had convinced them that that position could be improved by adding about 20 pages of focused and highly relevant copy to their site. I completed that project a few weeks ago and we're waiting for review and editing for the new section to go live.

Meanwhile, Google completed the Jagger update and this same client has dropped dramatically in rank for their most coveted keyword phrases. Why? They had been participating in a large link agreement with a single network of sites - a network that was not relevant to their industry or their products - but with thousands of links throughout the network pointing one-way links to them using anchor text with their keyword phrases included. Now that network has been recognized in the latest Google algorithm update and the client site is no longer rewarded for those thousands of links. They lost their page three position and have dropped entirely off the charts.

But - and I'm smiling here - as soon as we go live with the 20 new pages of highly relevant and focused copy that I just completed for them, I'm sure they'll bounce back in the rankings as soon as the new section is indexed and ranked where highly relevant and useful copy belongs. This will clearly demonstrate the value of that added copy and is likely to guarantee that we continue with the additional 30 pages of valuable industry and product content I had previously recommended. More industry focused and highly relevant content means better rankings.

I've long insisted in my online ramblings that reciprocal linking is a form of insanity. Thankfully, now Google has agreed and clients are returning to have me save their position on the SERP's. We'll first do what I recommended several years ago and begin seeking one-way inbound links from relevant vertical directories, industry news sites and client partners and vendors. Then we'll add substantial relevant textual copy - both original content and industry news, how-to's and reviews contributed by partners and vendors.

Once they bounce back in rankings due to the added content and new worthwhile links, I'll be smiling again along with my clients. Maybe they'll believe me more readily when I tell them not to look for quick fixes and easy answers. Because it's more expensive and time consuming to do things well (add relevant content and seek one-way inbound links) than to look for the latest simple tricks to game the system.

The importance of article marketing has been discovered in the past few years in the Internet marketing. It became very beneficial to the authors, publishers, article directories and of course the online businesses. There is no loser in this game. Everyone is a winner once they vent on article marketing.

The author of the article become expert in an instant once he or she provided juicy contents. Also since a URL of the site of the author is being provided on the article directories, they are sure to get more traffic to their site. You see, it is even a double purpose for most authors.

Also, article directories are winners since they get more traffic from companies that are hungry with good articles that they can publish on their site. These directories are very beneficial since they usually top very high among search engines.

If you want to be successful with article marketing, you need to be patient. Learn what topic people want. Do not give up writing different articles so that you will be known as an expert in your field. Though the result may not be noticed overnight, still it will guarantee you continuous traffic to your web site.

And as long as there are authors that write, article directories that publish these articles and as long as there are people who search for information, article marketing is here to stay. It will still be considered and will be forever regarded as the most effective way of promoting online.

Building article directories is all the rage now. Practically every time I submit an article I get a pop-up asking me if I'd like to build an article directory like the one I'm visiting. But I have no interest in that. I like to write and submit articles.

Is article marketing just a phase? I don't think so, look at where television was just 50 years ago and see how it has grown. The Internet is the television of future. Millions of people worldwide are entertained and informed by it every day. And one thing that is an absolute necessity for the Internet to continue growing is the need for fresh content. Just like television, both mediums need a constant source of fresh material to present to the public. That is very good news for those of us in the article business, and for that reason, I believe that article marketing is here to stay. The question is, as article writers, how can we capitalize on that? The answer is; write and submit targeted articles and add a well thought out resource box to each article.

By designing a good, well-conceived resource box, you can maximize the number of clicks each article generates. For each article I write, I design a different resource box. It is targeted specifically to the content of that article. In the first line, I add a link to your main site's opt-in page. In the sentence or two that follows, give a short description of what your site offers. Make sure you tell viewers the benefits of visiting your site. If they click through to your website, give them good reasons to sign-in. Promise free downloads. On my website, I offer them the opportunity to view and download numerous articles, pdf's and information on a number of techniques to generate money by writing articles.

Following that information, skip a line to start a new paragraph. In that section of the resource box, offer either one of your own products or an affiliate item. Follow that with a short sentence on how it would benefit the reader to through to that item.

Again, you should skip a line here and start a third paragraph. In this final section, provide a link on an additional product you are promoting. Try to vary the products and the order of their appearance.

Maximize viewer response by using three separate paragraphs. Using these techniques, your links will stand out more prominently, and you will dramatically increase the number of clicks.

Making Money with Your Blog!

A place for finding the Nuts and Bolts for Making Money Online with Affiliate Marketing Business Opportunity!

What's the purpose of a keyword?

Technically a keyword is used to find useful results in an Internet search. Type in your keyword and the search engine returns a list of sites where that word is found.

And to be even more technical, a keyword (or any word for that matter) is a combination of 1s and 0s that allows a message to be transmitted across the web to your computer or vice versa..

Just to be clear - a keyword can be one word - for example "insurance " - or a keyword can be a string of words (known as a long tail keyword) - for example "honeymoon destinations in the Caribbean." Both are referred to with the singular "keyword.."

Because the Internet is fundamentally a text based medium, words are the basic tool everyone uses to travel and navigate the web.

Even with the onset of audio and video, search engine spyders cannot read anything but text. So no matter how impressive a site may appear to be, the spyders read only words and that's why keywords are so important.

Okay, that's the head side of a keyword. What about the heart side?

As a marketer, what are you doing - really doing - when you're searching out the best keywords to place in an online ad, or build a sales page, or write an article?

Ultimately you're trying to connect with the heart of your potential buyer, your ideal customer - right?

In fact, think about yourself for a moment.

Bring to mind a time when you searched online for something you really wanted, something significant that you searched for and found.

What were you thinking and feeling when you searched for the right place to get what you needed or wanted?

Oh sure, you might have thought about the money - how much or how little. Maybe you were concerned about the brand name - Nike, Ben and Jerry's, or Pontiac. And location might have been a factor - made in the U.S.A or made in China.

But none of that really, really, really mattered did it?

Because there were deeper thoughts and feelings that were driving you to search - weren't there?

And it's those deeper thoughts that contained the keywords that were specific to you and your desire.

And more deeply, what about what you were feeling? How did your feelings color your thoughts?

And - when it came to what you typed into the search bar - what specific words did you use to describe your particular need, your specific feeling of need?

You may have been excited with the anticipation of pleasure and your feelings and thoughts followed.

You may have been in pain and were desperate to find a way out. That certainly would have generated a different kind of feeling state and the thoughts that matched.

Now, imagine if someone marketing exactly what you were looking for had understood what you were feeling and thinking and chose keywords that matched your experience. Wouldn't there have been an instant connection?

Yes, of course!

You would have made your purchase with ease and comfort and relief knowing you'd found the right place.

That's the real power of keywords. They make a connection. They are the first moment in the building of a relationship.

Not just 1s and 0s, but the grounds for an identification between marketer and searcher. A sense of - "You know who I am. You know what I'm going through." That's far more than just technical. It's a deeply personal and felt connection.

Keywords ARE personal. Very personal. They are the doorway into the mind and heart of your prospective customer. They are the touchpoint between two people - one with a problem needing to be solved or a desire to be fulfilled and the other with the solution.

And this month you can meet a true keywords magician, Greg Cesar. To all writers and non-writers out there, now is the time to start digging up those creative writing skills. With modern communication technology comes the popularity of information-based marketing, which is one of the oldest and most effective techniques in getting targeted prospects to sites and converting them into buyers. The biggest search engine of them all is without a doubt Google. What they say goes, and most website owners just have to put up with it. It is always good to know what SEO techniques that Google will allow, but most of all, what they will not allow. They can blacklist your site for as long as they want, and you will never be able to get a high ranking again if you cross them once.

Knowing how important a great ranking is for your web site or blog site, here is a list of six SEO techniques you SHOULD NOT do for any reason:

1. YOUR WEB PAGE TEXT IS IN GRAPHICS FORM ONLY
Google considers "burying" text in your HTML code hides the text from their spiders that are trying to detect all of your relevant content. They feel this is manipulating their search engines and they don't like that one bit.

2. YOUR SITE HAS A BLACKLISTED WEB PAGE LINKED TO IT
A good rule of thumb regarding this issue is never to link to a "link farm" or a "Free for ALL" link page. These websites deal in every under-handed cheap trick they can find to bypass Google's strict submission rules, thereby bringing every other website linked to them down in the gutter. Make sure that all of your links lead Google and your site visitors to reputable pages at all times.

3. BAD LANGUAGE ON YOUR MAIN PAGES
This also includes using ethnic slurs of all types, as Google really looks down on racist sites that result in hate crimes or other controversial events.

4. LINK BUYING
Google really hates when you have to pay another site just to link with yours. If your site is worthy of being included in Google's main pages, why on earth would you have to buy a link? It does not make much sense from a business standpoint either, because you should put your promotion budget somewhere else entirely.

5. CLOAKING
When you present one web page to your readers and another page just for the spiders from Google to search for relevant keywords, this is known as "cloaking". If an SEO specialist says it's OK to do it his way, tell him firmly "No way!" and go with another SEO company that is more reputable.

6. YOUR SERVER IS DOWN DURING A GOOGLE SEARCH
You say that this is not your fault, but in a way it is. You cannot afford any down time as far as your main web pages are concerned, because that eats into your profits on a weekly basis if it happens too much. So always find the best server possible for your site, no matter the cost. And when Google sends out their spiders to your main pages for ranking purposes it is a HUGE error if your server is down and Google comes back with an error message. Big problem time!

7. ZERO LINKS
Your website must have a least one back link coming in from a reputable website for Google to recognize you as worth their time. So before you submit your web pages, make sure you link to somebody first.

8. KEYWORD STUFFING
I went over this is another recent article, but it is a very important technique to remember to avoid. If Google thinks your pages are filled with certain keywords that you have included over 10% in the content's overall body, you will be heavily penalized by Google for keyword stuffing that will be hard for your site to recover from.

9. COPYRIGHT VIOLATION
If somebody has reported your site as having stolen their exact wording on content pages, or have accused your website of stealing images and graphics from their own pages, Google will come after you and make sure that you eliminate the text and images from your site immediately. But just to make sure that Google never has to do this, ALWAYS refrain from plagiarizing anybody else's website for any reason whatsoever.

10. USAGE OF FLASH PAGE AS MAIN PAGE
If you really want to make your visitors pay attention to your main page, just get creative with an animated logo or put some very nice HTML coding on your front page for some really nice graphics. In other words, use every other "flashy" technique to get a web surfers attention except for using a flash page. Google's spiders cannot read the text in a flash page, so Google thinks that you are manipulating that page for their search engine rankings.

Stay away from all of these SEO techniques and page re-designs and you should be OK in climbing up the much-coveted rankings of Google's main category web page.

Recently Chris Anderson published a book call the Long Tail. He goes into great detail about on how the ecommerce model is set up ideally for the Long tail and it can have the greatest impact on your business. But How can you really take advantage of that knowledge and do search engine optimization for the occasional visitor?

First you need to understand what the Long Tail really is. In a nutshell the Long Tail is the segmenting of the larger Market into very specific niches and sub-niches. For example if the general market you are in is Pets then a niche would be exotic or domestic, indoor or outdoor, Large or small, etc. Sub-niches of those could be cats, dogs, fishes, birds etc. You could segment it into even more sub niches from there by taking dogs and putting them into large, small, long haired, short hair, child friendly etc. The possibilities are really endless and that is the inherent problem with the Long Tail effect. With so many possibilities it does not become financial or physically possible to do effective Search engine optimization for all the possibilities that will be used by everyone.

SEO Challenges

You must know how your visitor is reaching your site. The are infinite possibilities on how this can happen so you want to be able to track it when it happens. If you are not using some type of Web Analytic Software then you should start immediately. Google makes it's analytic available to anyone who uses their Adwords service.

Once you have analytics in place you can look for trends of the visitor that come to your site. Here are things to check for

  • Keyword terms and phrases used
  • Web site they came from
  • Pages more frequently visited
Once you have that information you can see the patterns that your visitor leave you. Check out the relationship between keyword terms and phrase to the type of site and web pages that your visitor spend the most time on.

This will give you valuable information an any type of sub-niche that you can now target.

In Part 2 of the article we will look at how to segment your seo results and the best practices to get it done.
