Online marketing starts with your website

Internet marketing allows you to reach a global audience. Internet marketing is marketing your business online. Online marketing starts with your website; make sure it???s attractive and easy to use. Let me ask you a very important question concerning the traffic to your website. Do you get enough traffic to your website. Traffic is the lifeblood of your internet business and without this you are unlikely to succeed.

Unfortunately most people on the internet do not have a proven traffic strategy to generate leads and ultimately customers. You may be doing a bit of ppc adverts or email marketing. Alternatively you may be writing a few articles a week.

To succeed online you need lots of visitors. Incredibly most people do not have a comprehensive traffic strategy that will drive enough traffic to their website to succeed online.

This is the strategy that I use and it works like crazy. However, this is not a quick fix and requires work. So sorry to disappoint you if you were looking for a quick fix.

I write many articles focusing on topics of my niche market. I submit these articles to the major article directories and generate traffic to my website. However, what is really important is to get your actual numbers right. You need to write at least two hundred and fifty articles to start seeing measurable results. Many of you will write ten articles and be disappointed with the results and give up on article marketing.

Make sure that you drive all your traffic to a squeeze page so that you can capture the name and email address of your prospects. Also ensure that you have a good email follow up system that will convert prospects into paying customers.

If you do all the numbers right with driving traffic to your website it will consequently result in increased subscribers and sales.

Are you really interested in driving massive traffic to your website?

Three Things You Must Do Before You Submit To Article Directories

Article submission is a topic that does not get as much focus as article writing. And yet how you submit your articles can make or break your article marketing efforts.

In my experience coaching hundreds of article writers and marketers, I've come across three common mistakes made by both new and experienced article writers and marketers.

Let's take a closer look at each of these three mistakes and what to do instead.

Mistake #1 - Don't submit - Believe it or not, there are many article writers you simply do not submit their articles. Procrastination and fear of rejection are the two most common reasons for not submitting articles. You simply must push past the procrastination and do it now. Procrastinate later, do it now. Article directories, the good ones that is, will help you get your article up to speed if it needs a bit of tweaking before it is published. No need to fear rejection here.

Mistake #2 - Believing that just as few will do - I've heard this from the whiners out there - "I submitted some articles and got nothing, this stuff doesn't work." This stuff works, you just didn't work it. This is a numbers game - the more articles you get our there working for you, the better article marketing will work for you. At 882 articles if this one is accepted, I know article marketing works, and works well.

Mistake #3 - You don't know what you don't know - I've found that many article writers just sort of "throw up" their article and up for the best. I've identified at least 30 specific nuances to successful article submission that result in your getting your articles getting picked up more often and over the competition. For example one tip is "Key words come first" in your title. "The Top 7 Reasons You Need to Write and Market Articles" is a bad title. "Article Writing - The Top 7 Reasons You Need to Ramp Up Your Article Writing" is a great title. Key words come first.

Avoid theses mistakes and use these tips when submitting your articles.

Online marketing starts with your website

Internet marketing allows you to reach a global audience. Internet marketing is marketing your business online. Online marketing starts with your website; make sure it???s attractive and easy to use. When they need information, modern-day consumers turn first to the Internet. All of your online marketing will make sure they will find

It happens sometimes. Here are some of the common reasons you may not be indexed:

Index Time: It hasn't been indexed yet. The amount of time before the engine indexes your site should be listed on the search engine's submission page, but these aren't always accurate or may be out of date. On the average, index times range from one to eight weeks depending on the engine. Some engines like AltaVista and Inktomi offer paid options if you wish to be indexed more quickly.

TIP! Time frame and expectations: Allow up to 4 months, if you are number 10 and want to be number 1, then it may just be time that is needed - but if you aren't showing up at all, then you need to look at keywords, content, title, description and keyword tags.

Already Indexed: The major engines won't tell you if you're listed; it's up to you to find out. The method to discover if a page or domain has been indexed varies from one engine to another. Never assume you're not indexed just because you searched through keywords and you never came up in the first few pages of results. You could still be indexed and end up at the bottom of the heap.

Roadmap from Home Page: Some engines have been known to drop pages that cannot be traveled to from the home page. HotBot has been rumored to do this. Think of your site links as a series of roads from one page to another. If there's no road from your home page to the page you want indexed, a search engine may decide the page is unnecessary.

External Links: Some search engines like Google and HotBot have been known to refuse to index Web sites that don't link to any other sites. Or, they may index your home page but refuse to index any other pages unless there are links from another domain. Or, they may index you for a while but then "prune" their database later because you didn't achieve any external links after a certain period of time.

Frames: Content inside of HTML frames can cause problems with submissions because the search engine may index the main content of the page, but not the surrounding menu frame. Visitors to your site find some information but miss the associated menu. It's generally better to create non-framed versions of your pages.

Spider Blocks: Search engine spiders cannot index sites that require a registration or password, and they can't fill out forms. This also applies to indexing of content from a searchable database. The solution is to create static pages that the engines can find and index without performing a special action on your site. Depending on your database system, there are both utility programs and companies that can assist you with this.

Free Sites: Because of all the "junk" submissions from free web sites like Geocities, many engines choose not to index sites from such domains or limit the number of pages they accept.

Guilt Through Association: If your Web site shares the same IP address as other Web sites on your host's Web server, you may find your IP quietly banned because of something someone else did. Ask your hosting service if your domain name has its own unique IP assigned to it. If not, ask them to move it to its own IP to avoid being penalized because of someone else.

Dynamic Pages: Dynamic pages with URLs containing special symbols like a question mark (?) or an ampersand (&) are ignored by many engines. Pages generated on the fly from a database often contain these symbols. In this situation, it's important to generate "static" versions of each page you want indexed. Fancy scripts and code on a page can hurt your rankings. When it comes to search engines, simple is better.

Large Pages: If your site has a slow connection or the pages are very complex and take a long time to load, it might time out before the spider finishes indexing. To avoid this, limit your page size to 50K or less. A good rule of thumb is that: page size + cumulative image sizes on the page d 50K-70K If it is greater than that amount, visitors with dial-up connections will leave before the page fully loads.

Unreliable Hosts: It pays to have a reliable hosting service. If your web site doesn't respond when the search engine spider visits, you won't be indexed. Even worse, if you are indexed and they pay a visit when your site is down, you could be removed from the database.

Spam: If you use questionable techniques that might be considered an overt attempt at spamming (i.e., excessive repetition of keywords, same color text as background) an engine may ignore or reject your submissions.

Redirects: Redirects or meta refresh tags sometimes cause the engines to have trouble indexing your site. If the engines think you are trying to "trick" them by using "cloaking" or IP redirection technology, they may not index the site at all.

Proper Directory Submissions: When submitting to a directory site like Yahoo, Open Directory, LookSmart, and others, a live person reviews your site. They decide if the site is of sufficient "quality" before they list it. These directories can help you get listed with other engines, so make sure you give your directory submissions the attention they need.

Page Limits: Search engines will only spider so many pages of your Web site. This could be a few dozen or three or four hundred depending on the engine. Google is one engine that tends to crawl deeper into your site. How deep they go may depend on factors like your link popularity. Sites with higher link popularity are deemed "worthier" of more thorough indexing.

Random Errors: Sometimes the engines simply lose submissions at random because of bugs and technical errors. Mistakes happen - remember, they're managing a database containing hundreds of millions of pages.

Are you ready to market your business online? If you are, then you should also be prepared with article marketing. It's currently one of the best and most efficient traffic-generating and marketing tools, so it's definitely worth giving a try. Here are 6 comprehensive methods to accelerate your article marketing:

1. Post articles in forums. Message boards and groups have been a popular venue to talk about and ask questions about a particular subject or product. When it comes to article marketing, make it your habit to participate. You can post your own written article, as long as it's relevant to the discussion. Encourage reaction from other forum members. Of course, make sure you can maximize your signature file by adding a link to your site.

2. Create bullets or list. Don't think that your targeted audience has all the time in the world to read your copies. Just so they will be able to get the information they need in your articles, utilize bullets and lists. They can also facilitate easy reading.

3. Double-check your articles. If you want to keep the interest of your readers and boost your credibility, submit proofread articles only. The last thing you want to do is to be criticized for your spelling and grammar mistakes.

4. Create an eBook with your articles. Why struggle creating an electronic book when you can simply compile all of your articles? You can then send them to your targeted audience for free. However, just ensure that you have your website URL written on all pages of your eBook.

5. Develop a variety. There are many angles that you can possibly have even for just one topic, and it's ideal that you can write your own take on each of them. Variety will keep the interest of your targeted readers.

6. Don't praise. You're not going to sell your products through your articles, so don't praise them. Rather, devise a way on how you can improve their image by pointing out their features and benefits.

Compare to other paid advertising tools like PPC advertising and banner ads, article marketing can offer you with long term benefits. When you submit your articles to publishing sites, they will be posted there permanently. That means, they can be accessed over and over again and can still bring you quality traffic for many years to come.

1. Kick-start your articles with striking titles. The first step that you need to take in order for your articles to get noticed is to give them titles that can easily grab online users' attention. They must be interesting and intriguing enough to compel people online to invest their time in reading you content.

2. Bank on your first paragraph. Learn how to hold the interest of your readers to make sure that they will not close your articles until they click on your resource box by making your first 100 words interesting and equally attention-grabbing. Spill the most important information on this part and present a "hook" that will lead your readers to read your articles in their entirety.

3. Offer valuable and useful information. To keep your readers satisfied and to increase the chances of your resource box being clicked, make sure that your articles can offer your readers with information that they can use to either resolve their pressing issues or increase their skill level so they will be empowered to do amazing things on their own.

4. Keep your articles short. When writing articles for the web, it is crucial to understand that you are a serving an audience with limited attention span and people who do not have the luxury of time to spend hours reading articles online. Thus, you must strive to keep your articles short so you can offer them the information they need without wasting their precious time. You can cut on the number of your words by not beating around the bush and by eliminating fillers and fancy words from your content.

5. Use a compelling resource box. To end your articles with high note, use an amazing resource box that can easily convince your readers to check on your website. It must contain an exciting elevator pitch and a powerful call to action along with other crucial information.

Just what are the Benefits of Submitting Articles to E-Zines

E-zine advertising is perhaps one of the most underused forms of promotion. It is a good idea to do your homework, before launching your viral marketing campaign. Article writing and publishing has become the latest buzz in the internet website marketing world. The name of the game as far as Internet marketing

When I first started writing articles I really battled to write good quality articles. I remember the first few articles that I wrote it took me days to write one article. You need to be very creative to write a good quality article that will be approved by an established article directory. The more practice that you get the better you will become. Now I can write a good quality article in as little as fifteen minutes. I would like to share with you some tips that will help you to write articles faster.

When I first start writing an article I first decide the audience I am writing the article for. So for example if I am targeting sales techniques for sales people I will think of a topic related to this. For example it could be how to solve a specific problem for example closing or the sales technique that I use that I find to be very effective.

The next step is to write the title. This is the most important step. You need to do keyword research and write your title with specific keywords in them to help your article to be found in search engines when you submit them to article directories. Also it is very important to have an attention grabbing headline as people are more likely to actually read your article.

After I have written the title I like to write the introduction and conclusion next. I then create bullet points. Consequently I expand on these bullet points. Finally I proof read my article and check it for grammar and spelling mistakes.

Once you learn the art of writing articles faster you will have a way to generate high quality free traffic that converts better than other sources of traffic. Imagine what will happen to your business if you wrote twenty articles a day.

Writing and submitting articles to directories can considerably increase your traffic and sales. It doesn't matter if you never wrote a single word before or if the last time you wrote a three hundred words article was more than ten years ago.

If you have a website about 'dog training', start writing right away. Just write like you talk. In fact, you can just write your articles as though you were talking in just simple, every day language that your reader will enjoy reading.

Don't be too concerned if you don't think you are good at writing articles, they don't need to be perfect. All you need to do is to give your reader useful information. If you can help them and give them the solution that to solve their problems faster, you will make a lot of money.

Your articles don't need to be extremely long but most article directories will have a minimum word of around 250 words.

With article marketing, you can promote your own product, affiliate products, your website or your blog. In fact, you can promote everything under the sun. Just be sure to add a bio box with a link to your web property.

Another advanced technique is to send your visitors to a squeeze page to capture their email address. Doing this will allow you to send them promotional offers for months to come.

Once you have written an article you then need to submit it to article directories. It is important to submit to at least a couple of the top directories such as EzineArticles, Article Dashboard and Article City. These directories have high page rankings so your articles will receive many visitors. Now when your articles have been approved and published then you should receive many visitors when people search Google for any of your keywords.

Recently I became aware that one particular author on one of the leading article directories has published more than 10,000 articles, in well under two years! He is by far the most prolific author in this directory, and he has written them all himself!

This gentleman's name is Lance Winslow, and when you start to get an idea of all the things he does, and has done, you realize that he must be close to a genius! Either way, he certainly knows a thing or two about article marketing! So my colleague Peter Cutforth contacted him and asked him if he would be willing to be interviewed. He declined, but offered to answer any questions by email, so he managed to secure an "e-interview" !

Now, this guy is an entrepreneur to entrepreneurs! He is a global leader, and philosopher, and clearly has a huge intellectual capacity as well as highly honed marketing skills.

Here is one of the questions Peter asked Lance:

Peter: With 10,000 articles on one of the leading article directories you hold the position of number 1 most prolific author by many thousands of articles, yet you've only been a Platinum member since end March 2005. Can you tell us what is your approach, what is your 'secret', if you like, to cranking out so many articles? It seems like you write them all yourself, but do you get some outsourced, and if so, what is your approach to this?

Lance: I am having the Guinness Book of World Records verify that I am the all time world record holder for the most articles written on the Internet. Every article is written by me. The secret I suppose is to become a Renaissance Man so to speak and be well-versed in many subjects so that you can write that many articles. I would recommend that anyone wishing to achieve high-quantity in article writing to become an avid reader in at least 20 different industries, all aspects of the human endeavor and maintain a thirst for knowledge. The hardest thing I have found in writing articles is coming up with things to write about and coming up with titles to write on. Most of my articles are literally right off the top of my head now with little or no research, because the information is already up there from all the reading and soaking up information.

Peter asked Lance a question about achieving "critical mass" with article marketing, and his answer should not be missed by any internet marketer! See how to read it for free below:

Making Money with Your Blog!

A place for finding the Nuts and Bolts for Making Money Online with Affiliate Marketing Business Opportunity!

Nothing and Everything!

Tucked discreetly away on my modest marketing website is a copy of a Vincent van Gogh portrait I created for a charity fund raiser some years back. A few of the people who have stumbled upon it have sent me puzzling emails -- van Gogh and Internet Marketing? What's the connection?

It all boils down to stubborn old learning habits that never die!

Let me explain -- I am trained as an artist -- one of the best ways to learn how to draw or paint is to copy the Masters. Spend a few hours copying a van Gogh, a Monet or a Durer and you will learn more in those few hours than months spent in the classroom pouring over color theories, composition charts, and paint mixtures.

Learn by seeing thru the eyes of the Masters!

They have been there, done that, and they have solved all the major problems for you. It works perfectly and artists have been learning this way for centuries.

When I first started internet marketing I applied the same method. (Did I mention I was Stubborn!) A few hours studying the Masters -- their techniques, their marketing tools, their mindsets -- saved me and they will save you from months (if not years) of trial and error.

Study the masters first-hand and you will gain a more complete and broader understanding of the different marketing techniques, methods, and systems that these marketers apply. Spending a few years studying the top marketers may pay big dividends down the road when you apply all this knowledge to lesser known marketing niches.

Many may cringe at this suggestion, spend two or three years studying top marketers, you're got to be joking! Not really, it's where that old artist training comes in -- artists spend a lifetime studying the masters. And never regret a minute of it!

But just how do you find these Marketing Masters?

Finding the Masters was the hardest part! With so many proclaimed and self-proclaimed 'gurus' on the web; finding the genuine article among all the 'bovine deposits' was extremely difficult.

However, it wasn't long before one name kept popping up, again and again.

Mark Joyner!

Like him or hate him -- no one can dispute that he is 'the' master of internet marketing. Many of today's marketing techniques such as ad tracking, pre-selling, email marketing, guerrilla tactics, etc. were invented or perfected by Joyner.

In or out of internet marketing, Joyner is still a major force that's worth some serious study. Many people try to discredit him but basically, 'he wrote the book' on internet marketing. A few hours studying him and his methods will save you from months of trial and error.

John Reese!

Another name that keeps popping up -- John Reese. This is another marketing expert that delivers the 'goods' -- and the key lies in one word 'traffic'. Traffic is the lifeblood, heartbeat, and main factor that will make or break any internet website. It's the basic reason for the success of any website.

Reese has figured out how to deliver traffic to any site on the web. But before you jump and buy some of his Traffic Secrets products -- think twice. Is there a better way to get the information!

Please don't get me wrong, if you have the money and are short press for time -- by all means, go buy his products!

However, if you're on a budget and have some time on your hands -- why not go first-hand and study his sites, newsletters, blog, etc. Pick them apart piece by piece and you will discover his real 'secrets'. But more importantly you will have a better understanding of them.

Study the structure and layout of his sites, and see what techniques he uses and simply apply them to your own websites and marketing methods.

Google to the Rescue!

If you're really new to internet marketing, you may be wondering, how do I find these masters, their sites, or their products even? Just use Google and you will find the links you need to get you started.

Perhaps, a simple illustration of my own marketing study system would be helpful. Artists love techniques and it's the technique or method of learning that's important here. Once you have figured out a way to study the marketing masters -- all the other pieces will fall into place.

Here's a simple system I use, as mentioned above, traffic is the key to any website's success. Therefore, it would be beneficial for me or anyone to seek out a top SEO (Search Engine Optimization) expert and study him or her.

I used Google to find out who has the top listing/ranking for SEO products and Internet Marketing products in general. One site and one name kept popping up in the number 1 position over and over again. Mike's Marketing Tools run by SEO expert Michael Wong.

I went in and started studying his site's layout, its linking structure, etc. -- this guy knows what he's doing and he has the rankings to prove it.

Then I just copied his linking structure and applied it to my own sites. Please note, I am not talking about 'copying per batum' of any source code or material -- that's against the law. But rather the overall design, layout, structure and then taking that information and applying it to my own sites.

Three or four days spent studying this master's sites have given me a wealth of information that I have applied to my own sites and it's information that I will be able to use for years to come.

This is just one example of how you can use this old artist training technique to help you learn more about internet marketing. There are many more masters out there, seek them out and study them. Your marketing results will thank you!

And by the way, the van Gogh is still neatly tucked away on my site. It's a matter of learning. He's my constant reminder -- if you want to succeed online -- copy the Masters.

Article Marketing on the Internet is a whole different story

Article Marketing on the Internet is a whole different story because of the way your articles reach humans who have an interest in them. Article Marketing will help you increase your link popularity, search engine positioning for your keywords and phrases, and it helps you reach more potential customers for your products or services.

Almost every business owner knows the 80-20 rule and how it applies to their business. In addition to applying this rule for business, almost everyone else can find a fit for this amazing split to their own personal lives.

There have been studies done to prove or disprove this rule. In the end, the results do speak for themselves. As a general rule, the 80-20 split does work. Sure, there may be subtle differences. When analyzed the split may work out to be 85-15 or 75-25. But the reality of the rule always comes back to prove that as a general rule this 80-20 rule seems to apply to a great many things.

In general, you will find:

  • 80% of a business' profits come from only 20% of the customers.
  • 80% of sales come from 20% of the items in inventory.
  • 80% of your problems come from 20% of the people.

80% of Optimized Pages Bring only 20% of the Traffic

If you don't believe this then you should look at your analytics program more closely. It is a fact that the majority of the pages on your site will only have a limited number of page views. Some hardly ever get a look.

Then why are these pages important to have on your site? If you think that a page that hardly ever gets a view is unimportant to Search Engine Optimization then you are so very wrong.

Those obscure, unread and lonely pages are vital to your overall SEO plan. As long as they are optimized for your keyword phrases for your site and do get updated from time to time then they do help give gravity to your site in the search engine rankings.

80% of Sales come from 20% of Items

On an E-commerce site where you are selling items you will find that 80% of your sales will come from only 20% of the items. Then why have those other items in inventory and on your site?

It is the 80% of your inventory that helps drive your ranking on the search engines. Even items with 0 items in stock will help drive your rankings higher.

On an E-commerce site with 1,000 items this 80-20 rule will mean that your overall sales will be generated by 200 items. The other 800 items will have very little traffic if any. It is not uncommon for an item to not have a visitor in a 90 day time period.

On our E-commerce sites we even load items that do not have a quantity in stock at this time. We create a page and optimize the page with page title, meta tags, descriptions and continue to update the inventory along with all the other items on the site. What this item does for us is give gravity to our site as an authority on our keyword phrases even though it does not add to our overall sales volume.

80% of Ranking Well Comes From 80% of Your Unread Pages

Understanding and applying the 80-20 rule to SEO it is our experience that:

  • 80% of pages are not high in visitor counts
  • 80% of items on an E-commerce site will not have any sales
  • 80% of ranking well in search engines comes from 80% of items and pages that hardly ever get seen.
Size does matter. Having quality optimized pages on your site does matter. Having a lot of quality optimized pages on your site will help rank it higher in the search engines and allow you to compete with the mega sites and even surpass their rankings.

Search engines are looking for quality content and lots of it. Give the search engines what they want and you will get what you want. It is as simple as that.

Viral marketing is a methods of list building

There are multiple methods of list building, and if you are just getting started, until you have gained mastery over one or two methods, it is advisable to use multiple methods of list building strategies. You’ll see every step of the process, no matter how small, in exacting detail so

This is a problem we face since the so called Duplicate Content Theory. Article submission to hundreds of websites is no longer effective and also dangerously bad. Is that correct?

When you submit your article to a 100 directories, search engines than find 100 links to your site (in a day) all with same anchor text. They consider this as spam.

But, most often article directories do not approve your articles instantly, some take a day, others a week so you won't get too many links at once. So you can still use a software to submit your articles, and the more you submit the more backlinks you get. That's the great thing. There are no bad side effects by doing this.

Secondly, you should change the anchor text often. Put a keyword in the anchor text.

Here's the best method to get one way links using articles:

1) Create an article.

Then post the article on your blog or website. Your website needs new content create a new page for each article. Then put a link to each of your articles on a page which you may call Articles. Do not link to each of your article pages from your homepage, keep everything well organized both for search engines and your visitors.

2) Wait until the search engines index the page with your article, that way the article is now yours. Search engines now know that you are the owner of the article. To get the page indexed fast you can link to it from the sitemap or from the homepage until it gets indexed, then remove the link.

If your website is brand new, skip this step and do not wait until the article gets indexed before submitting it to article directories.

3) Now you can submit your article to major directories.

Finally contact webmasters that are publishing articles on their website and ask them for a link exchange. This may be the most difficult part, that is why I skip it or work less on it.

You can though use some services or forums where you can swap articles with other webmasters. That is much easier.

4) Check to see if others are using your article on their website without using your bio information. :) This may be a good idea to do, because you can contact them and let them know and at the same time suggest to them your other articles.

Do not worry if people put your articles on their websites without linking to your site. It does happen to all of us, and you waste time struggling with these things. However it's good idea to contact some who posted your articles, and tell them you have more.

Tell them they can also put your other articles on their site. Or better yet, tell them you wish to become an author for their blog or website, so you can post whenever you want.

And you always get a link back to your website from each article. And remember when you post articles in directories add something like this at the end of the article:

CopyRight All rights reserved

That's how article marketing helps you to get one way links. Remember, many theories spread like wildfire, but not all of them are genuine.
